Getting in and out of airports around the world can be quite a task and the case in Athens International airport couldn’t be any different

So lets find out the best ways to travel from the airport

to downtown Athens

At number 1, easiest, fastest and in some cases the most affordable way is just a taxi
I know everyone has a story where they got scammed by a taxi driver abroad but if you follow my advice you will be safe.
First of all, there is a standard fare to the city center and that is 35€ during daytime and 49€ during nighttime meaning between midnight and 05.00 am .
On top of that, every taxi has a meter and driver is required by law to run at all times so make sure to pay only the price displayed plus the legal extras in cases like an airport ride (about 10€) or a ride from a train station or port
At number 2 comes the subway. The station is integrated to the main terminal so only thing you have to do is walk through door number 3 on arrivals level and follow the signs,it is pretty much a straight shot from there. The ticket is 9€ per person and you can always get the 3day tourist pass for 20€. Beware that the trains are usually full and this is the perfect setting for pickpoceting…so keep an eye on your phones and wallets.
Last comes the public bus service, you can get X95 line straight to downtown but sit back and relax as it will take about an hour for sure to get in town.
Τhe bus ticket is 5.5€ and if you ask me it should be your last resort
